MailMySocial - Real-time social email

I've been thinking about this thing from quite some time now.

Almost a year ago, January 14, 2009 to be precise, I started a twitter apps site Twi5.com. I've been profiling new and interesting twitter apps almost everyday. Today I'm writing this after reviewing the 600th app on Twi5.

I'm a software developer by profession. There's this itch in me to be a web entrepreneur someday, be one of the founding members of a startup may be. As a first step, I've decided to go ahead and develop MailMySocial.

What exactly will
MailMySocial be like?

Social media is good. I'm an ardent fan of Twitter, I use it religiously. I log on to Facebook to catch up with my friends. I visit Facebook whenever I get an email telling me about new wall posts, messages etc.

As much as these things seem good and unavoidable, they may be a bit of a distraction for office goers like me. I mean, when you're at your job and a friend writes something on your wall, it's distracting to go all the way to Facebook.com (if your company hasn't blocked it) just to reply back. But at the same time, you need to reply, may be out of courtesy, or you are a social media fanatic or may be because it's important for you to stay in touch with all your friends.

So, wouldn't it be cool to be able to just hit the 'Reply' button of your email client, write your reply and hit "Send". The reply gets posted, may be to your Facebook wall or may be as an @reply on twitter or even a Direct Message!

This is what I want MailMySocial to be like. I want to build something that'll help you stay focused on your job and still be able to stay connected with your friends and family.

At the moment, I'm planning to support Twitter. If all goes well, Facebook would be introduced after that.

Wish me luck, I hope to build this app all by myself (of course I would love some help from designers, I'm bad with CSS).

I'll try to keep you posted on the progress of MailMySocial.

By the way, what do you think about the name 'MailMySocial', is it good?  And did you like what I'm planning to develop?
